As the largest national sporting event and one of the most important indoor tournaments in the world as part of the ATP World Tour 500, the Swiss Indoors Basel traditionally takes place in Basel and is always marked by the final spurt to the World Championships in London.

At the third largest indoor tournament in the world, no fewer than 11 men from the top 15 will be competing, and the cut-off for direct qualification into the main draw is ATP rank 29.
